Abstract: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is one of the major causes of the chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, affecting more than 170 million people worldwide. The most sensitive species to HCV are restricted to humans and primates. The study on HCV infection mechanism, variation, replication, translation and interaction between the virus and human body were limited for lack of stable sensitive animal models. This review introduces the progress of research and application in HCV animal model.
