Probe on Orthotopic Liver Transplantation in Rats by Double-Cuff Technique

Abstract: Objective To investigate the surgical techniques for establishing the rat model of orthotopic liver transplantation. Methods On the basis of the double-cuff technique of Kamada, Some of the skills of the techniques for the veins of donors and the portal vein and the suprahepatic inferior vena cava of recipients were modified. Results Of the 50 rats that underwent orthotopic liver transplantation, 92% survived longer than 24 hours and 88% over 7 days. Conclusion The operator can successfully establish the rat model of orthotopic liver transplantation by streamline operations and improving the details on the basis of skillful surgical techniques.
