Abstract: Gut microbiota has been reported to involve in host physiology functions, certain pathological disorders, and drug metabolism. The gut microbiota colonization is also involved in several important development of physiological function, especially development of immune system and digestive system. As the cleanest animal associated no microorganism, germ free animal is a precondition to study the relationship between microbiota and human health state. Germ free animal, gnotobiotic animals and human flora associated animals have been widely used in studying the effect of microbiota on host development, etiological factor of metabolic disease and drug metabolism.
