Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of HP-β-CD on clinical symptom, hematological parameters and blood biochemical parameters in rats. Methods Fourty SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups. 6-week rats (SD) were administrated with HP-β-CD at doses of 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/kg/day by continuous intravenous infusion. Results There was no effect on survival and outer appearance and behavior comparing with control group. At both 1 000 and 2 000 mg/kg/day groups, there was a decrease in the number of RBC, content of Hb and HCT, while plasma BUN level increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01).It showed increasing in plasma CRE level at 2 000 mg/kg/day. Conclusion HP-β-CD could induce hemolysis and renal function damaged in rats at both 1 000 and 2 000 mg/kg/day dose.
