Growth and Development of Albino Striped-back Hamster (Cricetulus barabensis griseus)

Abstract: The growth and development of albino striped-back hamster were reported. The newborn hamsters were hairless with eyes closed. Up to the 4 th day,their hair ap-peared and their ear conchae erected.Up to the 13 th day, their eyes opened and they started to eat. Up to the 20 th day, young hamsters were able to live independently. They attained to sexual maturity at about 2 months after birth. The body weights, body lengths,tail lengths,hind foot lengths of 140 albino hamsters from birth to 100 days old and the organ weights of 104 albino hamsters at six-month-old were measured and found similar to the normal striped-back hamsters.
