Through isoenzyme electrophoresis, microcytotoxity test and morphological analysis, the genetic characters and morphological features of 40 KM mice and 30 wild mice (Mus musculus castaneus) from Yunnan province of China were investigated, and compared with the wild mouse(
Mus musculus domesticus
) from western Europe. The results indicated: KM mouse was similar to M.m.
domesticus
in genetic profile. Both were identical in the shape of the zygomatic plate. Though KM mouse and Yunnan wild mouse contain Thy-1
a
and Es-2
C
which were lacking in M.
m. domesticus,
the genetic distance between KM mouse and M.
m. domesticus
was 0.2631,while it was 0.6165 between KM mouse and Yunnan wild mouse. The results suggested that KM mouse was originated from western Europe wild mouse (M.
m. domesticus
) and was genetically contaminated by M.
m. castaneus
after introduced into Yunnan province.

The growth and development of albino striped-back hamster were reported. The newborn hamsters were hairless with eyes closed. Up to the 4 th day, their hair ap-peared and their ear conchae erected.Up to the 13 th day, their eyes opened and they started to eat. Up to the 20 th day, young hamsters were able to live independently. They attained to sexual maturity at about 2 months after birth. The body weights, body lengths, tail lengths, hind foot lengths of 140 albino hamsters from birth to 100 days old and the organ weights of 104 albino hamsters at six-month-old were measured and found similar to the normal striped-back hamsters.

In order to provide the morphological data for establishing human cerebral vascular diseases model using miniature swine, the cerebral arterial circle and basilar artery were studied by means of 14 vascular specimens of the 3-5 months old miniature swines. The results were as follows:① The composition of the cerebral arterial circle was similar to that of human and some other swine breeds, but it differed from human and some other swine breeds that the proximal segments of both right and left lateral posterior cerebral artery connected in the manner of obtuse angle in 8 of the 14 specimens. According to the classification of гиидчe, most (11/14,78.6%) of the cerebral arterial circles of the miniature swines were equi-valent to the primary type and the others, the transitional type.②After recieving the branches of the occipital artery, the vertebral artery formed the cerebral-spinal artery which entered into the vertebral canal. After recieving the branches on the opposite side the cerebral-spinal artery formed the cerebral-spinal circle. The circle gave rise to the basilar artery and spinal-ventral artery.③The course of the basilar artery was similar to the usual pattern found in domestic animals. The whole course was curved and only one curvature was found in most of the specimens. The calibre of it becomed narrower as passed anteriorly.

The changes of arginine vasopressin (AVP) contents in the plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF),septal area and hypothalamus of rabbits during endotoxin fever were observed. At the 90 th minute after treatment with endotoxin (10 ng/kg,iv) the temperatures of the treated rabbits rised 1.00±0.36℃(n = 9),the A VP contents decreased markedly in plasma and CSF,increased markedly in hypothalamus and remained unchanged in septal area of the febrile rabbits as compared with the control animals. The results suggested that endotoxin fever might promote the synthesis and release of AVP in hypothalamus of rabbit.

The karyotype, G-banding pattern and Ag-NORs pattern of the chromosomes of Japanese White Rabbit were studied. Its karyotype was 2 n=44.18 m+7sm + 10st+9t. The polymorphism of Ag-NORs was found in the chromosomes of Japanese White Rabbit. The number of Ag-NORs of chromosomes in one cell ranged 1~6 and averaged 2.93. The Ag-NORs were located on the terminals of the short arms of No. 12, 14 and 20 chromosomes. The G-banding pattern coincided generally with other reports.

The examination of karyotype of Ba-ma mini-pig by means of peripheral blood lymphocytes culture showed that the diploid chromosomes number was 38, 18 pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes in both boars (XY) and sows (XX). The chromosomes were divided into four groups of A,B,C and D according to the standard of Reading Congress (1976).The karyotype of the autosomes was 10 sm+ 4st+10m+12 t. The X chromosome was a metacentric chromosome whose length was between the 8th and 9th chromosome, while the Y chromosome was a smallest metacentric chromosome.
