Abstract: Objective To identify the anatomical and histological characteristics and study the ultrastructure of thymus, spleen and lymph node of the naked mole rat. Methods The histological characteristics and ultrastructure of thymus, spleen and lymph node of the naked mole rat were observed through hematoxylin-eosin staining and transmission electron microscopy. Results The thymus of naked mole rats degenerated significantly with a higher degree of pimelosis. A few of splenic corpuscles in spleen were found, and both capsules and trabeculaes were thick with clear boundary. There’s no significant difference on mesenteric lymph nodes between naked mole rats and C57BL/6J mice. Conclusion The anatomical and histological characteristics and ultrastructure of thymus, spleen and lymph node of the naked mole rat were identified, which will lay a foundation for further related studies in naked mole rat.
