"The establishment of NJS strain mouse as atherosclerosis model, including the origin, breeding objectives, breeding method, reproductive system, care and management were reported. The problem of decreasing in reproductive performence, the change of serum cholesterol level during the course of inbreeding and directive selection, and the feasibility of breeding method were discussed. In order to avoid the deliveries of rabbits at night that always give rise to losses due to negligent postpartum care, the author recommended a method of inducing labor in parturient rabbits at daytime by depilating their chest and abdominal wall and introducing 3-5 sucklings of 1 -8 day - old to the doe to suck her breast for 5 min. Generally labor would take place within 1/2h in about 97% of the does after above treatment. The survival rate of the litters reached 96%.

Since nonrandom chromosome changes in neoplastic cells have been proven to be good indicators of the site of gene alterations related to transformation, the authors examined the chromosomes of T-cell lymphomas induced in RF/J strain mice with methylnitrosourea (MNU) after long - term passage in syngeneic mice. All treated mice developed thymic lymphomas within 10 weeks after the injection. Chromosome of the thymus cells were examined at intervals before and during lymphoma development, as well as after they were passaged in syngeneic mice for periods up to 424 days. In preparations made directly from the thymus cells nonrandom numerical and structural alterations were found that involved the X,3,15,4,8,12,14 and 17 (Chromosomes showing alterations are listed in decreasing order of the frequency of their occurrence). In tumor cells passaged in syngeneic mice most of the above chromosomes were involved but the order was 15,14,X,1,5,6,3,11 and 12. The X,15,14,3 and 12 were aberrant in both direct preparations and in those from passaged cells, suggesting that these chromosomes carry genes (oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes) which, when altered, are particularly important in the multistep process of neoplastic transformation. MNU thus appears not only to be tissue specific but also to affect fairly specific chromosomes.

Biotin carboxyl anti - antibody and enzyme - labled streptoavidin were used in the indirect enzyme - linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of antibodies to mouse hepatitis viruses (MHV) in mice. The results showed that it,s sensitivity was four times higher than that of the ELISA with enzyme -labled staphylococcal protein A, and it's specificity was also better than the latter.

Lactate dehydrogenase and superoxide dismutase isoenzymes in tissues of the heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, skeletal muscle, red blood cell and serum of Zmu-1 :DHP guinea pig were analysed with PAGE. The results revealed that LDH
5
was absent in the liver an^ the contents of LDH B subunit in most tissues were increased in varying degrees, and the SOD from different tissues and serum were appeared in multiband distribution on the electrophoretic pattern. Both SOD
1
,and SOD
2
were the common bands in the zymograms for all the sampled tissues.

The effects of two kinds of Jiangxi tea on serum malondialdehyde (MDA) level in retired SD rats and anti - stress ability in KM mice were studied. The results indicated that the two kinds of tea had the effects of lowering serum MDA level in rats (
P
<0.01) and had effects in promoting anti - stress ability in mice (
P
>0.05).
