An outbreak of poxvirus infection was occurred in a Wistar rat colony, with a morbidity of 33.3% (10/30). The clinical signs and the pathohistological findings of the tail skin, liver and spleen lesions were identical with those of mouse pox. The DNA of the virus was found in the epithelial cytoplasm by using Feulgen stain. Suspension of the homogenized liver and spleen tissues were inoculated onto chorioallantoic membranes of 12 - day chick embryos. Pocks were appeared on the membranes at the fourth passage. Electron microscopic examination revealed the presence of poxvirus in both the chorioallantoic membranes and the suspension of the homogenized tissues.

The image state of the testis of Fischer344 rats were observed by SPECT with 99
m
TC-FDX (molecular weight: 48000). Rats were injected at the dose of 0.1ml (18.5MBq) through the tail vein. Testicular tissues for examination were fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin, embedded in paraffin, and stained with iron - hematoxylin and H. E. The results showed that the testicular tumor of the rats were imaged positively, and pathological findings further confirmed that it belonged to the interstitial cell tumor. The Reinke crystalloids have been observed in the cytoplasm with the iron-hematoxylin. The results suggest that the 99
m
TC-FDX and staining with iron-hematoxylin is an ideal method for the early diagnosis of testicular interstitial cell tumor.

Monoclonal antibody 9B
3
(MA9B
3
) is specific for human fibrin. Its reactions with fibrins of some other kinds of animals were tested. The results indicated that MA9B
3
cross-reacted with fibrins of ox, dog, rabbit and rat. The orders of strength are ox, dog, rabbit and rat. The reactions were not interfered by fibrinogen. However ,MA9B
3
did not react with chicken fibrin.

The effects of oleic acid on pulmonary injury in guinea pigs were observed,by the calculation of the pulmonary coefficient and examining the pathological sections. The results indicated that compared with the contrast group, the respiratory rate of the oleic acid group increased, depth of respiration shallowed, showing "distress condition" - dyspnea; the pulmonary ceofficient increased (
P
<0.05),pulmonary volume enlarged obviousely; hyperemia and punctate hemorrhage in pulmonary mesenchyma, edema in pulmonary alveoli. The resuitfs suggest that oleic acid can be used to establish RDS model in guinea pig. Anisodamine can antagonize the pulmonary lesions in guinea pigs caused by oleic acid.

A serological survey on some important zoonosis infections was carried out among the persons working in a laboratory animal facility ,including epidemic hemorrhagic fever virus (EHFV), Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV),
Brucella canis
and
Toxoplasma gondii
. The results showed that only the EHFV infection was found in the laboratory animal caretakers. It suggests that the prevention of EHFV infection in laboratory animals remains to be a key task. Only when the environment of laboratory animal facilities is improved and the microbiological quality of animals is controled, can the health of the persons working in laboratory animal facilities be assured.

"Hepatic ischemia models have been established in rats. It was found that after hepatic ischemia for 25 minutes and reperfusing for 10 minutes, the activities of alanine transaminase (ALT ),aspartate transaminase ( AST ) , creatine phosphokinase ( CK ),lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) a-hydroxybutyric dehydrogenase (a-HBD) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in the serum of the experimental rats were increased significantly contrasted with those of the controls (
P
<0.01 or
P
<0.05). "
