Abstract: To observe the effects of Raloxifene on bone mineral density, bone metabolism and lipid me-tabolism of ovariectomized rats. We detected the BMD of spine and total hip, serum estrogen, serum lipid, markers of bone turnover, Ca,P content in artery wall in OVX rats administered by Raloxifene.Result shows that the BMD of OVX rat treated with Raloxifene increased on the spine and total hip, the level of estrogen (E2) increased significantly, markers of bone formation (serum BGP) and resorption (urinary PYD) decreased significantly, in addition, total serum cholesterol as well as LDL-cholesterol decreased significantly, and serum HDL-cholesterol and triglycerides did not significantly changed. So the Raloxifene could protect metabolism of bone and lipid, possibly due to its estrogen-like effect.
