Abstract: To study the effects of ethynylestradiol (EE) on the biochemical parameters and hepatic tissue in pregnant rats, the pregnant rats were injected with EE(2.5 mg/kg • d,dissolved in propylene glycol,lg/L,n=10) or vehicle (n=10) subcutaneously from the 15th to 19th day of gestation. The serum levels of ALT, AST, ALP,TBA and CHO were measured before and after the treatment. The livers were examined histologically after the treatment. The results showed that significantly increasing in levels of ALT, AST and TBA accompanied by intrahepatic cholestasis was found in the experimental rats, while no alterations were found in the control rats. These alterations induced by EE are similar to those of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy in women.
