Abstract: An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） was developed for the detection of antibodies to Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis virus,Sendai virus，Pneumonia virus of Mouse and Reovirus type Ⅲ by using Horseradish Peroxidase （HRP） conjugates of rabbit antibody against hamster IgG （HRP-IgG） in golden hamster sera. The results were compared with HRP conjugates of Staphylococcus proteinA（HRP - SPA） ELISA. The specificity and sensitivity of the HRP-IgG ELISA are higher than those of the HRP-SPA ELISA. Therefore,it is recommended that the HRP-IgG ELISA procedure could be used as a routine method for the monitoring of viral infections in hamster colonies.
