Cerebral thrombus model was duplicated by applying cold light to middle cerebral artery to induce thrombus in rats, and the effects of urokinase (UK) and an extract of
Whitmania pigra
Whitman were observed. The results showed that severe edema, infarction in cerebrum and neuro - behavior disorders developed 24 hours after thrombus induction, and UK and the extract of
Whitmania pigra
could mollify these injuries. The extract of
Whitmania pigra
could decrease the extent of cerebrum edema by 29% and the infarction area by 45% (5.78%±0.88% vs 10.51 %±2.37% ,
P
<0.01) as compared with untreated model group. It suggested that the extract of Whitmania pigra might be used to treat the injuries from cerebral thrombus, and the Photo - chemically induced rat model of cerebral thrombus was successful.

The morphology of spermatogenic cells of contorted seminiferous tubules in different stages in KM mice was observed , and the levels and distributions of DNA,RNA and glycogen in the spermatogenic cells in different stages were also analysed qualitatively by using histochemical methods and autoradiography. The results might serve as basic data for researching on physiology of reproduction in mice.

To disclose the transfer relationship of circadian rhythms of cellular messengers among central nuclei, the levels of cAMP and cGMP in cells of suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), dorsal raphe nucleus (DR) and pineal body (PN) in mice were measured at 04: 00, 08:00,12:00,16:00,20:00 and 24;00 for 2 days. The cosine parameters and equations for the circadian rhythms of cAMP, cGMP and cAMP/cGMP levels in SCN,DR and PN were derived respectively. The results showed that the peaks of circadian rhythms of cAMP/cGMP ratio in PN, SCN and DR appeared at 10: 23» 11: 05 and 11: 56, respectively, suggesting that the transfer sequence of circadian signal among the three central nuclei in mice was from PN to SCN, and then to DR.

"SCID mice were intraperitoneally inoculated with a mixture of MHV1 ,MHV3,A59,JHM. The blood ,liver, lung, brain and spleen samples were taken, 50mg of liver, lung and brain samples »and 15mg of spleen sample were homogenized respectively with a plastic homogenizer in a 1. 5ml microtube for extracting total RNA from the tissues. Then, total RNA was reversely transcribed into cDNA, and the cDNA was amplified by PCR. The results indicated that MHV in blood, liver and spleen was detected 1 day after the inoculation, then in lung and in brain on 2 and 5 days after the inoculation ,respectively, and MHV replicated mainly in liver. The radionuclide dynamic imaging method was applied to study acute renal failure induced by intramuscular injection with glyceryl alcohol in 15 dogs. The results showed that 0.5~6 hours after the injection the time taken for completely imaging of renes and the time for reaching peak level of radionuclide in ren were longer than those before the injec-tion(27.3±1.7 seconds vs 17.4± 1.8 seconds,
P
<0.01,264.1±18.4 seconds vs 152.4±18.1 seconds ,

Some biochemical parameters of seminal plasma were measured in twelve adult male rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) in the breeding season. The results showed that the levels of fructose, novain, the activities of acid phosphatase and a-l,4 -glycosidase were 11.98±0.98g/L,319.82±65.61μol/L, (1.818±0.749)×10

In order to facilitate intravenous injection of mice, directive breeding on short tail and clear tail vein of KM mice was done for 4 generations by using rotational mating system, and their tail length, growth and reproductive performance were measured and observed. The results showed that the average tail length of the short tail KM mice after directive breeding was 67.5±6.0mm at 4 weeks old, shorter than that(80.3±12.6mm,
P
<0.01) of the control ones (KM mice) , while no significant differences were found in body weights, litter size and weanling number. The rate of the mice with clear tail vein in short tail KM mice(
n
= 200) was 95% while in control ones(
n
=160) 20%.
