Abstract: Through water-absorbing function experiment and animal experimenr, comparing the effects of poplar shavings and general shavings to determine whether poplar shavings can be used as beddings. The water absorbed by poplar shavings is more than that of general shavings （P＜0.05），the growth and breeding function between control group and experiment group is no different （P＞0.05）. It indicates that poplar shavings is safety,credibility,and should be expread ed for a large range which is used an the bedding for laboratory animal
