Abstract: To determine the relationship between canine prostate volume and its weight,and to determine the value of transabdomen prostate volume determination with ultrasound,six beagle clogs and eight mongrel dogs were used. The volume of prostate were determined by ultrasound under anesthesia. After these dogs were killed by air embolism,their prostates were freed.The weight of prostates were measured and the volume was also measured by draining water method. Results showed that the volume detected by ultrasound approached to the practical prostate volume （r₁ = 0. 920, r₂= 0. 992 respectively）, and the prostate vol-ume and weight had close relation-ship （r₃ = 0. 990, r₄= 0. 992）. Therefore, it is very convenient to know canine prostate volume through ultrasound method,and according to the relatively constant prostate density,the prostate weight and volume can be converted each other.
