Influences of Ginseng Decoction and Panaxosides on Serum EGF of C57BL/6 Mice Bearing Lewis Lung Cancer

C57BL/6 mice were implanted with Lewis lung cancer cell(2×10⁷) and treated every day with Ginseng decoction and Panaxosides 3 days later. Serum EGF content were detected by radioimmunoassay 2 weeks after the implantion. The EGF content were 0.18±0.11,0.28±0.09,0.16±0.10 and 0.29±0.11μg/L respectively in normal,non-treated tumor bearing,Ginseng decoction and panaxosides treated tumor bearing mice. The tumor weight of the Ginseng decoction treated mice was 3.6±0.8g,higher than that of non -treated mice(2.8±0.53g),and more higher than that of panaxosides treated mice(1.1±0.59g). The results suggested that the growth of tumor may be closely related to EGF,and Ginseng could accelerate the utilization of EGF and promote the growth of tumor. Panaxosides is not the effective component in Ginseng for accelerating the growth of tumor and utilization of EGF.

The nystagmus of guinea pig were induced by using sinusodial pendular，rotatory and caloric stimulus test in this experiment. By electronystagmography，the sinusodial pendular nystagmus were recorded with it’s symmetrical distribution in left - right directions, the amplitude 2.8±0.4μV and the frequency 3.2±0.3/s ;In rotatory test, the nystagmus of accelerated,descended and sudden stoping stage were also recorded;In caloric test,0、10、20、30 and 45℃ water were used to stimulate the guinea pigs respectively,and the correlative nystagmus data were obtained. The both former reflect the function of bilateral semi -canal，but unilateral mainly. The results suggested that guinea pig was most sensitive to cold water,especially to ice water. This experiment provided reliable basis for experimental research on the vestibular function and structure in guinea pigs.

Different local anesthetic methods, including skin wheal of guinea pig, the cornea of rabbit eye,the paw of brain - ruined toad,the subarachnoid space anesthesia of toad and action potential of isolated sciatic nerve from toad, were used to study the anesthetic effects of osthole，a coumarin extracted from the seeds of Cndium monnieri (L. ) Cusson. The results showed that 2% osthole was effective in infiltration and conduction anesthesia but not in surface anesthesia ,and can markedly strengthen the hypnotic effect of subthreshold dose of pentobarbital sodiumin in mice. Furthermore,infiltration anesthetic effect in guinea pig was strengthened by the administration of epinephrine hydrochloride. When the osthole was injected into the subarachnoid space of the lumbar area in toads,the animal showed excitation first and then followed by inhibition,these responses were reversible.

Nude mice transplanted with human stomach adenocarcinoma (SGC-7901) were injected with parvovirus H-1 around the site where SGC-7901 was inoculated. The group treated with the virus at 2×10⁷/kg twice a week for 3 weeks showed high tumor inhibition at the rate of 58. 5%. No apparent efficacy was found in the group treated intraperitoneally with parvovirus H-1 at the same dose schedule. The toxicity of parvovirus H-1 seemed to be very low,no toxic reaction was found when 10⁹/kg of the virus was injected intraperitoneally in KM mice.

Nine adult prolonged anestrum dogs were used for estrus induction by a combined treatment protocol including intramuscular injection of diethylstilbestrol ,HMG and HCG. The estrus induced dogs were mated with fertile males on a suitable date. Eight estrus cycles were induced , which resulted in 4 pregnancies with 1 miscarriage and 3 normal deliveries. In the combined treatment group,the litter size was obviously bigger than that of the dogs not treated with HMG. Two estrus induced animals were not pregnant but their next estrus cycle were occured 50 days later and successfully pregnant.

The experimental diabetic model was established in SD rats by intraperitoneal injection of complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) and streptozocin (STZ,25 mg/kg) once a week for 3 weeks. The plasma levels of glucose (BG),insulin (Ins) ,C - peptide(C - P), glucagon (Glue) and somatostatin (SS) were measured by RIA at fast and lhour after sugar tolerance. The results showed that the levels of BG,Gluc and SS were significantly increased，While Ins and c - p were decreased at fast. One hour after sugar tolerance, the level of BG,Ins，c -p and SS was increased markably，while Glue was decreased. The results suggest that the functional interaction of the α,βD cells of the pancreas play an important role in diabetes mellitus.

Thirty healthy Syrian golden hamsters, 6～11 weeks old, weighing 75～120g，were used to study the buccal pouch blood flow and hemorrheology. The results were as follows ：blood flow rate was 0.36±.01 mm/s，blood flow volume (104.55±4.27) ×10³μm³/s, blood viscosity 14.45±1.03/6.71±0.77cP，plasma viscosity 1.54±0.08cP， hematocrit 26.5±3.8mm, erythrocyte electrophoretic time 4.49±0.87s. These indices could serve as reference parameters for further study on microcirculation and hemorrheology in golden hamster.

Blood chemical values of about four hundreds samples from clean meriones unguicula-tus were determined and analysed by routine methods. The results showed that the serum levels of TG、BUN、P、K⁺、Na⁺、C1^- were slightly higher than those of the human's，while the TP、TCHO、Ca²⁺、GLU、CRE、URA were quite similar to those of human's. There were no obvious differences between the values of different sexes (P＞0. 05) ,but have significantly differences between the young and adult group (P＜0. 05).

According to the national standards (GB 14922 - 94), the microorganisms and parasites of the various - aged rabbits in the opening environment were investigated. The results indicated that the rabbits were infected mainly by P. multocida ,B. bronchi sept ica and Eimeria Stiedae which the infection rate of P. multocida in the adult and the young rabbits was 40% and 32%，the infection rate of B. bronchiseptica increased with age (23. 7% in young,72% in adult) ,and the rate of Ehneria Stiedae infections decreased with increase of age(50% in young,25% in adult). The other items which had been investigated were showed negative or slight positive.
