Abstract: We have investigated the effects of ethanol exposure in utero on the content of sialic acid and sialidase activity in newborn rat brain. Dams were exposed to ethanol in gestation days 7,8,13 and 14,the content of sialic acid were significantly increased in postnatal days 3 (PD3) and 5 (PD5) pups brain. No significant change was found on the sialidase activity.
