Abstract: "The histopathological observation on the livers of thirty two ICR/JCL HBV transgenic mice at 23—55 days old revealed that in 17 mice there were enlarged hepatocytes with round, oval or irregularly shaped nucleus, thick nuclear membrane, coarse and dark-stained chromatin, enlarged nucleoli and increased nucleus-cytoplasmic ratio. The structure of liver lobules was essentially normal. The proportion of such abnormal cells was relatively high in 7 of the 17 mice, but there were no typical pathological changes of hepatitis in these cases. Analysis of DNA images showed that there was an increase in DNA content of the abnormal hepatocytic nuclei. The proportion of the cells with the number of chromosomes over penta-ploid reached 12%—56%. "
