The ability of steroid hormones to modulate endometrial differentiation has been studied in guinea pigs. The purpose of the study was to determine the hormonal conditions favorable for supporting decidual I tissue formation and effects of progestin,antigestagen,estrogen and antiestrogen on uterine cell differentiation. The results indicated that the induction and extent of decidual formation were dependent on the progestin and estrogen. Estrogen is essential for supporting the progestin directed differentiation and proliferation of endometrium with the formation of decidual tissue in stimulated guinea pigs. The ability of decidual-ization occuring in the guinea pig only requires the endometrium be initially primed by these ovarian steroid hormones. The results also demonstrated that antigestagen RU486 and antiestrogen Clomiphene influence endometrium differentiation and decidual tissue formation.

This study analyses the goat SRY sequence by direct sequencing procedure, followed by the designation of the PCR primers specific for goat SRY. By using PCR amplification of the goat SRY gene, the embryo sex was determined. The results of the embryo sex identifications were further confirmed after the embryo transplantations and pregnancies.

The changes of superoxide dismutase (SOD) , malonyldialdehyde (MDA),glutathione (GSH) , and glutathione peroxidase (GSH - PX) contents in granulation tissues were observed in resected wounds of rats. The results revealed that the curve of SOD and GSH - PX changes was showed in "V "type,while in GSH was showed in " A "type,and MDA content increased gradually after resection. The contents of SOD and MDA were higher at day 7 than day 3(
P
<0.05). It was concluded that the changes of SOD,MDA,GSH and GSH-PX contents were present in the process of wound healing.

In order to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for treatment of human liver cancer,a suitable large animal model bearing liver tumor is indispensible. Hepatic pseudotumors in 15 rabbits were established by operative injection of 1—2ml Freund’s complete adjuvant into the desirable site of the liver,the pseudotumors were developed in all the animals 7 days after the injection. Another 5 rabbits were injected percutaneously under sonographic guidance»4 of them developed pseudotumors. Autopsies revealed that the pseudotumor was a well-formed lesion of approximately lcm in diameter in the liver. Histologically,the lesion was an inflammatory granuloma. This model showed the following advantages:①easy to be induced with a high successful rate;②a short latent period ; ③the tumor can be detected easily by sonography, CT and MRI ,and showed the characteristic changes in these imaging modalities.

"The biological studies were carried out in pituitary transplanted rabbits. The results revealed that the hypophysoprivic rabbits were in the state of low body weight,anorexia and poor immune function, rabbits with transplanted grafts were significantly better than those of hypophysectomized animals. Compared with endocrinal hormone levels and light—micrographic changes,the results suggest that biological characteristics were very important and valuable indices for detecting transplantation curative efficacy. The purpose of the study was to investigate whether the human recombinant interleukins (rIL -lβ、rIL - 6) had a direct action on the development of early embryos. The experiments were done in ICR mouse. The results revealed: (l)rIL - lβhad no effects on the early embryogenesis of mouse in vitro at the concentration of 4,10 and lOOIU/ml respectively. (2)the development of embryos was significantly suppressed by adding the rIL - 6 to the media at a concentration of 1OOIU/ml,at the same time,the embryotoxcity was clearly observed. These results suggest that IL - 6 may have the effect of direct embryo toxcity at a high concentration.

The authors analysed the gum flora of rats qualitatively and quantitatively by magnetic bar dilution method. The results showed that in conventional and SPF rats the dominant bacteria were: micrococcus, streptococcus,corynebacterium and propionibacterium,with isolation rate more than 70%, The results suggest that the SPF rats are more suitable for oral disease study as they are less in individual difference in gum flora than those of the conventional ones.
