Forty-four haemal biochemical parameters in Ba-ma mini-pigs (♂20,♀30) at the ages of 4 to 12 months were determined and analyzed .The results showed that most of haemal biochcmical parameters in Ba-ma mini-pigs were not different between the sex. Moreover, detected items of haemal organic compound in different months of ages were not different, only a few items of haemal inorganic compound were different, but haemoproteins, lipid and enzyme in most items among different months of ages were different (P<0.05) or significantly different (P<0. 01). With the increase of months of ages , most items didn't show obviously regular fluctuations. The majority items of Ba-ma mini-pigs were similar to those of common pigs. And 18 haemal biochemical parameters of Ba-ma mini-pigs were similar to those of human beings, for example, Total bilirubin (T. BIL), Direct bilirubin, Indirect bilirubin, Direct bilirubin/Total bilirubin , Creatinine, Uric acid. Total protein. Albumin, Globulin, Albumin/Globulin, Triglyceride, Thymol turbidity test, Glulamic-oxaloacetic transaminase. Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase/Glutamic-pyruvic transaminase, K, Na, T. Ca, Fe. It is concluded that there are some similarities in biochemical characters between Ba-ma mini-pigs and human beings, which provides specified reference basis for Ba-ma mini-pigs serving as laboratory animals.

The influence of Deep Hypothermic Circulatory Arrest (DHCA) and Deep Hypothermic low-flow cardiopulmonary bypass (DHLF) on lung was studied. After establishment of DHCA and DHLF model on piglcls according to clinical cardiovascular surgery, measurements of lung compliance、airway resistance. artcry-alvcolar O2pres-sure ratio、pulmonary vascular resistance and neutrophil sequestration ratio were dctcct-ed at 3 different time, i.e. before institution of Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) 、at the end of CPB and 1 hour after cessation of CPB. The results showed that more severe decrement of lung compliance and artery-alveolar O2 pressure ratio and greater incre-ment of pulmonary vascular resistance and neutrophil sequestration ratio were observed in DHLF than in DHCA. No difference were observed on increments of airway resis-tance between the two groups. It was concluded that DHLF could cause more severe pulmonary injury than DHCA on piglels lung.

To investigate the effect of oviductal cells system on the in-vitro development of mcase 2PN fertilized eggs , the co-culture system of goat oviductal epithelial cells were established. Mouse 2PN fertilited eggs were co-cultured with goat oviductal ep-ithelial cells in M16 co-medium (test group) or in M16 medium alone (control group). The results showed that more than 86% of embryos co-cultured with the oviductal cells cleaved beyond the "in vitro" block whereas only 50% of embryos in M16 medium cleaved to the same degree (P<0. 01) . The findings suggested that the goat oviductal epithelial cells system had the beneficial effect on mouse 2PN fertilized eggs passing the "2-cell block" in-vitro.

For establishing rat model of uric acid nephropathy(UAN), the rats were fed with yeast only, or yeast and adenine, or yeast and adenine and sardine respectively. The changes of serum uric acid(UA), creatinine (Scr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and renal tissue structure were examined after the model had been founded. Compared with that of the normal group rats, the processed rats presented substantially increasing of UA,Scr,BUN. It was found that the renal pathological change in the model rats induced by feeding with yeast only could imitate the manifestations of primary UAN in human, and the latter two models correspond to occurrence of mechanism of secondary UAN of human.

Restenosis is one of the major limitations of PTCA and CABG, it can be as-sumed as a combination of neointima formation and arterial remodeling in response to in-jury. We rcccnlly established model with mice BALB/cA and C57BL/6J. After ligation of the left common carotid artery just proximal to the bifurcation resulting in 90% re-duction of lumen area by a combination of intimal hyperplasia together with decreased diameter. In this study, neointima formation in C57BL/6J micc and BALB/cA mice was compared. Two and four weeks after the ligation, lcukocyte infiltration was observed in the developing neointima, a 90% reduction of luminal area was observed in C57BL/6J ; While in BALB/cA no neointima formation was observed. Conclusion : Vascular remod-eling with neointima formation was the cause of restenosis, presumably by mediating leukocyte recruitment and the interaction between platelets and leukocytes.

"The human gastric adcnocarcinoma tissues with or without superficial tissue were subcutancously transplanted into two weeks old ablactation nude micc or three weeks old weaning nude mice, then the formed heterogeneous tumor was excised and the remnant tumor continued to grow subcutancously in nude mice, the differences of the tumor formation rate of the implanted tumor as well as the growing characteristics of remnant tumor in nude mice of different ages, and the effects of tissue selection of human tumor were observed. The tumor formation of implanted tumor is superior in two weeks old to three weeks old mice. In the same period, the tumor formation in 2 weeks old was 4 days before than in 3 weeks old mice, with two times higher in the tu-mor formation rate. Tumor formation rale in group of tumor tissue with capsule was three times higher than that without capsule. The passage rate of the remnant tumor was 100%, and the tumor forming time is only 8 days. It can be concludcd that the tu-mor formation rate of implanted tumor can be improved by using two weeks old mice, it also can be much higher if using tumor tissues with superficial tissue. Tumor formation time can be shortened by using remnant tumor in passage after implanted tumor formed.

Female clean SD rats were divided into two groups. Group I,13 rats were layed in the isolator for passive smoking for two hours per day. Group Ⅱ , as control group, 10 rats were layed in the isolator without passive smoking for two hours per day. Twenty days later, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were collected for count-ing and sorting the inflammatory cells; the surface of the main right bronchus was ob-served by scanning electron microscope; lung tissues were observed by light microscope. The results showed that the number of total cells in BALF in Group I [(46.1 ±28.3) × 106/L] was higher than that in Group Ⅱ [(17. 7 ± 9. 9) ×106L] (P<0. 05). The inflammatory cells were infiltrated in the wall of small airways and lung tissues; the fimbme of columnar epithelial cells of airway were failed and in disorder, some of them shed. The results suggested that the stimulation of smoke induced increase of inflammatory reaction of the airway and the function of fimbriae decreased, these may lead to the injury of the airway.

To investigate the suppressive effects of retinoic acid (RA) on the hepatocar cinoma induced by N-diethylnitroamine (DENA) in rats. RA (1.5mg/kg, treated group) and the saline without RA (control group) were administrated (i.p) every other day to the rats of hepatocarcinogenesis induced by DENA beginning from the 11th week. At the beginning of the 16th week, 7 rats in each group were killed. The nodules ≥3mm and ≥5mm in diameter and the volume of the largest nodule were calculated and compared among groups. The survival time was recorded and the rats were weight ed before and after the administration. The number of the nodules ≥3mm and ≥5mm in treated group were significantly less than those in control group (P<0.05). The mean volume of the largest nodule in treated group was significantly smaller than in con trol group (P<0. 05). Compared with control group, the survival time in treated group prolonged by 55.8% , but the bodyweights of rats in treated group did not changed. The results indicated that RA suppressed the development of primary hepatic nodules in duced by DENA and prolonged the survival time of the rats.

Mouse genctics is set to play a pivotal role in the key post-genome challenge, specially in the study of human gene function. The normal mouse are mutated with the methods of gene engineering (such as transgenic, knock-out and knock-in), to promul gate the human gene function. But the expanding mouse mutant resource that will result threatens to overwhelm the currently available animal facility space. As more and more genes are sequenccd and cloned , the number of new knock-out , knock-in and transgenic mice will undoubtedly increase. The best and most safe method is simplified of extensive frozen archives now. Comprehensive mouse mutant archives will provide an essential resource for mammalian genetics throughout the 21st century.
