Abstract: Mouse genctics is set to play a pivotal role in the key post-genome challenge, specially in the study of human gene function. The normal mouse are mutated with the methods of gene engineering (such as transgenic, knock-out and knock-in), to promul gate the human gene function. But the expanding mouse mutant resource that will result threatens to overwhelm the currently available animal facility space. As more and more genes are sequenccd and cloned , the number of new knock-out , knock-in and transgenic mice will undoubtedly increase. The best and most safe method is simplified of extensive frozen archives now. Comprehensive mouse mutant archives will provide an essential resource for mammalian genetics throughout the 21st century.
