It was hosted by Dr. Li Yao, Associate Researcher at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Dr. Liu Jihong from Shanghai Kaichun Technology (Group) Co., Ltd.
The meeting covered the following items:
1.Self-introductions by international editorial board members and their corresponding domestic youth editorial board members to enhance mutual understanding;
2.Zhang Junyan, the Deputy Editorial Reviewer and head of the editorial office, introduced the journal's development history, features, and recent achievements on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief;

5.The attending editorial board members engaged in a lively discussion on topics such as the journal's international dissemination, publication of international submissions, and domestic and international scientific research cooperation.
This online exchange meeting has laid a foundation for uniting the strengths of international editorial board members, expanding academic dissemination channels, and advancing international cooperation. Taking this opportunity, Laboratory Animal and Comparative Medicine will further pursue high-quality journal development and build a higher-level international exchange platform for laboratory animal and comparative medicine.
The specific contents of the special topic solicited by the international editorial board are as follows:
The attending editorial board experts focused on discussing the Special Topic on Laboratory Animal Science and Technology Development across Countries. This special topic will rely on the 13 foreign editorial board members to take the lead in soliciting or recommending submissions. Unsolicited manuscripts from non-board members will not be accepted. The content can cover research advances in laboratory animal resources, facility management, welfare and ethics, alternative methods, etc., in your respective countries or regions, as well as international research advances in your areas of expertise. The contributions can be in English or in Chinese with the cooperation of the corresponding editorial board. Both the original English version and the Chinese version will be published eventually. The abstracts and figures will be published in both languages.
If 15 manuscripts on this topic are submitted simultaneously, they will be published together as a special issue. If there are 5 to 6 concurrent submissions at the same time, they will be published together as a thematic issue, while the remaining manuscripts will be published separately in regular issues. All submitted manuscripts will undergo the standard three-round peer review and three proofreading procedures identical to regular research papers to safeguard publication quality. Review articles should include figures and tables and provide theoretical guidance or practical reference value. Research articles must be original with detailed data, reflecting the expected standard of the field in that country or region.
To ensure efficient publication of this special issue, the LACM editorial office will provide the following support:
1. Pair with Chinese editorial board members to assist with communication, follow-up, translation, or co-writing;
2. Provide a fast-track review and publication channel, with peer review completed within two weeks and publication within three to six months after acceptance;
3. Waive article processing charges.
The planned timeline includes:
1. Submission by the end of 2026;
2. Publication in 2027.
