Laboratory Animal and Comparative Medicine (CN 31-1954/Q, ISSN 1674-5817) was founded in 1981 and is the first professional academic publication in the field of experimental animal technology in China. This journal strives to maintain a balance between theory and practice, as well as popularization and improvement, and publishes new achievements, developments, and information on research and application in the fields of experimental animals and comparative medicine. The content of this journal mainly includes human disease animal models, development and utilization of experimental animal resources, facility and management of experimental animals, welfare and ethics of experimental animals, animal experimental techniques and methods, experimental animal medicine, comparative medical methods research, as well as basic and applied research in various fields of biomedicine based on experimental animals.
Our previous editors-in-chief include Mr. Chong Deng, Mr. Ruisan Liu, and Researcher Cheng Gao from the experiment animal science field in China. The current editor-in-chief of this journal is Researcher Jian Wang from the Shanghai Institute of Biomedical Technology. The executive editor in chief is Baojin Wu, a researcher of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Molecular Cell Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The honorary editor-in-chief is Jinsong Li, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. At present, this journal is a bimonthly publication in Chinese language, distributed publicly both domestically and internationally. It is a source journal for Chinese scientific and technological papers (i.e., a core journal of Chinese science and technology) and a "core journal" of Chinese medicine and health. From 2022 to 2023, it was selected for the "Bilingual Communication Project of Science and Technology Journals" by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology. Additionally, it is included by Chemical Abstracts and Ulrichweb in the United States, CAB Abstracts and Global Health in the United Kingdom, ICI World of Journals and ICI Master List in Poland, DOAJ in Sweden, the Western Pacific Region Index Medicus (WPRIM) and the US EBSCO database.
In 2024, Laboratory Animal and Comparative Medicine will continue to adhere to its original intention, uphold integrity and innovation, and strive to improve its academic services and leadership capabilities, in order to build a higher quality academic exchange platform for the technological development and talent cultivation of experimental animals and comparative medicine in China. Based on the professional characteristics of our journal and the cutting-edge research progress at home and abroad, we are now open to submissions from experimental animal technology workers and biopharmaceutical research and development scholars nationwide.
