Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of propofol on TNF-α、IL-1β and IL-10 of endot-oxic shock rat. Methods Twenty-four male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups: Control group（Group C）, Endotoxin group（Group L）,and propofol plus Endotoxin group （Group P）. Endotoxin with concentration of 10 mg/kg were injected into the rats of group L through femoral vein；The rats in group P had 20 mg/kg/h of propofol injected intravenously and then received 10 mg/kg/h of endotoxin； The rats in group C had the same amount of normal saline injected. The rats were killed 60，120,180 and 240 minutes after the injection. The levels of TNF-α、IL-1β and IL-10 were measured by ELISA. Results In Group L, the concentrations of TNF-α、IL-β and IL-10 rose significantly （P＜0.001）. In Group P, all the concentrations were significantly lower than that of Group L （P＜0.001）.Conclusion Propofol can significantly decrease the level of TNF-α、IL-β and IL-10 in endotoxic shock, and then prevent acute lung injury caused by endotoxin.
