Abstract: Vascular dementia （VD） is a syndrome manifested by declines in cognitive function which is the results of cerebral blood flow disorders and functional disorders caused by a series of cerebral vascular factors. It is of vital importance to establish a VD animal model caused by cerebral ischemia to deeply explore the etiology, pathological features of the disease and to insure an early diagnosis, treatment and even prevention for the patients. In this study, a review was performed in the research progress of experimental VD animal model.
