Abstract: Objective To study the effect of ethanol extract from Qufeng tongluo recipe on cerebral blood flow （CBF） in rats with acute cerebral ischemic injury. Methods Using a modified MCAO method, the authors established the model and flushed the ischemic territory via ICA with Chinese recipe solutions （Qftl） at the early start of reperfusion that 2 hours after MCAO. Rats of control （ip group） were ip 3 ml Chinese recipe solutions at the right time. Results Compared to model group, CBF of Qftl and ip group was increased significantly （P＜0.01，P＜0.05 respectively） and neurological deficit scores were increased （P＜0.01,P＜0.05 respectively）. The CBF and neurological deficit score was significantly different between Qftl and ip group （P＜0.05）. Conclusion （1） Focal flushing via ICA is an effective method. The mechanism of this treatment is not only about blood dilution and capacity increasing, but about focal effects of different medicines.
