Abstract: We constructed an experimental rat carotid artery stenosis model induced by FeCl3. The smooth muscle cells migrate from the median to form a neointimal after the endothelial cells are injured by FeCl3. The FeCl3 injury model has the same pathology as balloon injury model, and easier to operating, and also the degree of injury can be controlled quantotatively. It will be useful in screening new drugs and pharmacodynamic study.
