Abstract: To establish VX2 liver cancer model in rabbit, the VX2 tissue was cut into strip shape about 1 mm× mm×3 mm, and were inoculated into the liver of 60 New Zealand rabbits guided under ultrasound. The successful rate of the animal model were observed 2 weeks later. Spherical or sphere-like hypoecho lesion could be found in the model. No echo of envelope could be found at the inoculated site. Heteroecho was observed when the tumor has coliquation and necrosis. The cross section of the tumor was hoariness and stiff, with fish meat-like appearance. Natural life of 9 model animals were 36~52(43.3 ±5.7)days. The results suggested that the ultrasound-guided percutaneous puncture-inoculation method for establishing rabbit VX2 liver tumor model is simple and effective.
