Abstract: SD Rats were injected beside the periost of right tibia with 4×106 Walker256 carcinoma cell lines and 0.2ml normal saline as control. Fourteen days after the injection, blood samples were collected for the examinaton of serum calcium. Bone mineral density(BMD)was detected under anesthetized condition, and the pathological changes of tibia were also observed. Results showed that serum calcium level raised significantly after the injection of the carcinoma cells, while BMD decreased markedly in model rats as compared with control ones. The bone structure was also damaged after the injection. The experiment verified that Walker256 can induced hypercalcaemia in SD rats.
