Abstract: The method of PCR for detection of infectious ectromelia （Ect） virus was established by a set of consensus sequence primers. The results showed that the PCR amplified product was 846 bp and verified as Ect virus by restriction endonuclease analysis,and that the method could detect Ect virus gene even at the level of 0.lpg.
