Abstract: The arthroplasty of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) by transplanting an autogenous costochondral graft in juvenile male pigs was described, which includes the removal of autogenous costochondral segment, the unilateral condylectomy and the reconstruction of the missing condyle. The established animal model might provide an ideal means for the study of TMJ arthroplasty.
