Abstract: To study the effects of chronic alcohol intake on γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (γ-GT)activity in rat liver. Male and female Sprague Dawley rats were fed with 20% ethanol at the dose of 790 mg/kg body weight per day for 3 months. The γ-GT activity was measured at 1,2,and 3 month of experiment. No significant differences were found in γ-GT activity between experimental and control rats, however γ-GT activity was inhibited by ethanol in vitro.
