A MCMV-Smith strain was used for experimental infection. Two strains of mice, resistant CBA mice and susccptibie Kunming mice, were showed to have different clinical manifestations, pathologies and mortalities. It was found that of the 3 organs, submaxillary glands, spleens, and kidneys, submaxillary glands were the most reliable organ for MCMV isolation. MCMV could be readily recovered from submaxillary glands 7 days postinfection in both strains of mice and lasted 70-105 days postinfection, while rare were from spleens and kidneys.

"Micronuclei of bone marrow polychromatic erythrocytes of 10 germfree guinea pigs and 4 GF-rabbits were compared respectively with that of 10 conventional guinea pigs and 4 CV-rabbits. It was found that the frequencies of micronuclei in germfree animals were rather lower than that in conventional ones. The frequency of micronuclei in GF guinea pigs was 0.68‰, sharp in contrast to that of 7.55‰ in CV guinea pigs, similarly, 0.72‰ in GF rabbits and 5.76‰ in CV rabbits. The differences between them were statistically significant (P<0.001). We have known that germfree animal can alive much longer than conventional animal though the later were raised in most ideal environment. This is accord with that the genetic material of germfree animal is more steadiness than that of conventional one. In this consequence, we suggested that under the same conditions of genetic backgrounds, physical and chemical factors, the effect may be induced by microorganism-biofactors. But how these biofactors act on bone marrow PCE cells, and how strong is the. intensity of the effect on bone marrow PCE cells? All those still needs further study."

In order to understand the possible effects of a new experimental atherosclerosis model-Guizhou minipigs, the levels of Atrial Natriuretic Factor (ANF), Aldosterone (Aid), Cortisol and cyclic AMP(cAMP) in plasma were evaluated. These minipigs were fed by cholesterol and egg yoik of high dosage for 24-30 weeks. It was found that the level of ANF hadn't any change, level of Ald increased markedly, levels of Cortisol and cAMP decreased significantly. The results indicated that level of ANF was unaffected but level of suprarenal cortex hormones and cyclic neucleotides were correlated with atherosclerosis. The latter .may be more important. We recommend that Guizhou minipigs are perfecter lactation animal on the research of atherosclerosis.
