Abstract: "Twelve adult mongrel dogs of both sexes were randomly divided into two groups equally. In experimental group the greater omentum was extensively lengthened ancl brought through a subcutaneous tunnel up to the left ventrolateral medulla oblongata and the root entry zone (REZ) of the ninth and tenth cranial nerves, and this part of the medulla oblongata was compressed by blood vassel anastomosis formed between omentum ancl soft tissue overlying the medulla oblongata. While in control group, the omentum was transplanted to the surface of the cerebellum. The results showed that the increase in blood pressure was statistically significant in experimental group (P<0.01).but not in control group (P>0.05). The results suggested that essential hypertension may be associated with neurovascular compression of the left ventrolateral medulla oblongata. "
