XIA Xianzhu, male, an animal virologist, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a member of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Academy of Military Medical Sciences. He graduated from Nanjing Agricultural University in 1965. He retired in 2019 but continued to engage in postgraduate training and research at his original institution.
XIA Xianzhu has long been engaged in research on the prevention and treatment of significant epidemic diseases and zoonotic diseases in pets, military animals, and wildlife. He has isolated more than ten kinds of animal viruses that severely harm wildlife, economic animals, and military and police dogs, including Canine Distemper Virus, Rotavirus, Parvovirus, Coronavirus, and Infectious Hepatitis Virus, and successfully developed biological products such as the DHPPiL. He has won three second-class National Science and Technology Progress Awards, one third-class award, three first-class and seven second-class Military (Provincial and Ministerial) Science and Technology Progress Awards, and has been awarded third-class merit three times.
